Apple's New AppleCare One: What It Means for Families with Multiple Apple Devices

What Is AppleCare One?
Think of AppleCare One as a family plan for your Apple devices. Instead of having separate protection plans for each device, you can now bundle up to three Apple products under one monthly plan for just $19.99. Need to cover more devices? You can add additional ones for $5.99 each per month.
This isn't just about convenience – it's about savings too. If you were previously paying for separate AppleCare+ plans for your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, you could save up to $11 every month by switching to AppleCare One.
What Does This Mean for Your Family?
Simplified Billing: No more keeping track of multiple payment dates and amounts. One plan, one monthly charge, done.
Better Coverage: AppleCare One includes everything you loved about AppleCare+, plus some new perks. For instance, theft and loss protection, which used to be iPhone-only, now covers your iPad and Apple Watch too.
Flexibility for Growing Families: Got a teenager getting their first iPhone? Need to replace a broken iPad? AppleCare One makes it easy to add and remove devices as your family's needs change. When you trade in a covered device directly to Apple, it automatically gets swapped out for your new device in the plan.
Coverage for Older Devices: Here's something really interesting – you can now add Apple devices that are up to four years old to your plan, as long as they're in good condition. This is a huge change from the old 60-day window you used to have for buying AppleCare+.
How to Check What You Currently Have
Before you make any decisions about AppleCare One, it's smart to see what coverage you already have. Apple makes this easy with their coverage checker tool. Simply go to checkcoverage.apple.com and enter your device's serial number. This will show you not only what coverage you currently have but also when you originally purchased your device, which can help you determine if older devices are eligible for the new plan.
To find your serial number:
iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings > General > About
Mac: Click the Apple menu > About This Mac
Apple Watch: Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, then tap General > About
Should You Switch?
AppleCare One makes the most sense if you have multiple Apple devices in your household. If you're currently paying for separate AppleCare+ plans, the math is pretty straightforward – you'll likely save money and get better coverage.
However, if you only have one Apple device, sticking with regular AppleCare+ might be more cost-effective. The individual plans haven't changed, so there's no pressure to switch if the new option doesn't fit your situation.
